King Pro Golf Teaching Philosophy
Golf is a game of stepping stones. It is important for a student of the game to first understand the basic fundamentals of the game (i.e. proper club fitting, grip set up & posture, club positions). Once equipped with an understanding of the basics fundimentals it is much easier and quicker for a student to progress their game to be successful on the golf course. I believe that the golf industry has a flawed way on teaching the game of golf. Most golfers have actually never taken a true golf lesson from a professional. Most pro's sit on the driving range and give golfers tips on how to swing and set up properly but teach very little about the game of golf. Golf is so much more than just a golf swing on a flat surface hitting to a wide open space without any penalty for a miss hit. A true golf lesson will cover the swing, but will also teach you how to play the game of golf, understand the rules & etiquette, help you to understand course management, and the proper mental approach. A true golf lesson equipts you with the ability to lower your stroke average and play better golf.
The Mentor Approach
Golf is an amazing game that takes dedication through practicing proper fundamentals, and study to understand how best to approach the game to maximize your performance. So how do you learn from an instructor who only teachs you how to take a good swing. You don't. A student can have the best swing on earth but without the understanding of how to apply that swing to the golf course that player will never meet their full potential.
I teach in two ways. (1) On the range to teach my students the fundamentals of the swing and to correct any major errors they may have fallen into. I do this through my understanding of the swing and many times video analysis so the student can see what we are working on. (2) I move the lesson to the golf course to teach the student how to take their swing from the range and to the course.
Because golf is a game played on many different lies and surfaces I also teach how you go about modifing your technique, club, and shot selection to create the optimum success.
